At Taiken Tila, you can enjoy tranquility and comfort in a simple space that reflects the unique character of Nordic design.
The facility has six twin rooms and can accommodate up to 12 guests. Each room is equipped with two beds and a closet, while the shower, sauna, toilet, and washing machine are available in the shared area.
There is also a spacious meeting area and kitchen, fully equipped with tableware, cooking utensils, a dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, stove, oven, and air fryer.
Outside, there is also a large gas grill where everyone can enjoy cooking together. In addition, for an extra fee, guests can enjoy a traditional Finnish outdoor sauna and relax in an open-air bath under the stars or the evening sky.

Space Rental
You can also rent the kitchen and meeting space in units of one day (8 hours).
The space can be flexibly used for a variety of purposes, such as birthday parties, relaxation days, workshops, classes, meetings, and private events.

Winter Nature Experience Day
Dress warmly and enjoy the beauty of winter nature.
Depending on the weather and the participants’ wishes, you can explore the outdoors by kick sled, snowshoes, sled, or skis.
Along the way, you will stop by Koivikko Horse Farm and spend time with the horses.
If the snow conditions are good, you can also make snowmen, snow lanterns, and snow forts.
Painting and Inspiration from Nature
Create your own handmade keepsake by painting on canvas using a variety of techniques.
You will paint inspired by photographs taken in nature.
The activity is guided, and no previous painting experience is needed.
Finnish Home Cooking and Traditional Recipes
Using seasonal ingredients, you will prepare traditional Finnish dishes.
Depending on the season, this may include stews, soups, oven-baked dishes, pastries, and traditional pies.
The cooking is done together with local people, and in the end, everyone enjoys the meal together.
Observation Tower and Nature Trail
Visit the Himma Observation Tower and walk along the surrounding nature trails.

Rabbit Hunting

Bird Hunting
At dusk, you can take part in pigeon or duck hunting.

Events
Staff
Taiken Tila is run by a small, close-knit team: Tarja, Risto and Mari. They all live just around the corner and know the local forests, lakes and trails like the back of their hand. Each of them also has a profession of their own, and it shows in what we offer: everyone brings their own skills to the table. Together they take care of everything from cleaning and cooking to excursions and workshops, so our guests can simply relax.
Tarja
Tarja is an accountant by profession, so Taiken's finances are in good hands. Beyond numbers, her heart lies in the kitchen, the forest and working with her hands. Tarja is in charge of cooking at Taiken, and she leads our traditional Finnish home cooking sessions using seasonal ingredients. On forest walks, she teaches guests how to recognise edible berries and mushrooms. In our art and craft workshops, she helps even complete beginners create something they can proudly take home.
Risto
Risto runs Koivikon Hevostila right next door to Taiken, so horses and rural life are part of his everyday routine. At Taiken Tila, Risto is in charge of outdoor experiences: hunting, fishing, hiking, survival skills and bushcraft. He knows the best fishing spots and hunting grounds in the area. With him, you'll learn how to light a campfire, prepare your catch and cook a meal over an open fire. At the stables, Risto introduces guests to the farm's horses and foals, which is often the highlight of the visit, especially for children.
Mari
Mari holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and works as a university lecturer at the University of Oulu. She is Risto's spouse and lived in Fukuoka, Japan, for four years with her family, studying and working there. Those years in Japan are reflected throughout Taiken: in its name, in our Japanese guests, and in the idea that everyday life itself can be an experience. Mari speaks basic Japanese and acts as a bridge between Finnish and Japanese culture. At Taiken Tila, she is responsible for horse, art and painting activities, as well as marketing, social media, courses and bookings. If you contact us, chances are Mari will be the one replying.
Axel
Axel, nicknamed Api, attended a Japanese elementary school for four years while living in Japan. He speaks Japanese at a near-native level and even understands the Hakata dialect of the Fukuoka region. For our Japanese guests, Api is often a delightful surprise: a young man in the middle of the Finnish countryside who can chat with them in their own language.
